Multiple Affected as Turbulence Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane into Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries after a Delta Airlines jet traveling from LA to Sydney experienced rough air Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier informed. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
Local paramedics stated they assessed five patients, and took three to hospital with minor injuries that such as pain in the back and head pain. The patients' ages ranged from their thirties and seventies.
This marks the latest incident of aircraft encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that global warming is a major factor.
On board were 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the wide-body jet, the Delta spokesperson added, stating that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.
Emergency responders said they were alerted just only 180 seconds prior to the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
